Tyne Engineering’s unique experience in the fusion industry provides them with the extensive capability to modify outdated or unavailable equipment.  Tyne comes highly certified to meet all nuclear industry standards.

Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) is a process that allows a commercial grade item (CGI) to be designated for use as a basic component thus providing assurance that a CGI is suitable for use in a nuclear power plant and will perform its intended safety function. As such, the commercial grade item is considered equivalent to an item designed and manufactured under a 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, nuclear quality assurance program. At Tyne Engineering, all critical characteristics of the CGI are identified and their acceptability is verified via stringent inspections, tests and analyses, thus rendering the CGI qualified to meet nuclear standards.

When the decision is made to retire a nuclear power plant from service, a safe and cost effective decommissioning process is implemented.  Decommissioning involves removal of fuel and equipment not only from nuclear power plants, but other nuclear installations such as research reactors, particle accelerators and isotopic separation plants. Tyne Engineering, with our technical skill and experience along with the necessary nuclear certifications collaborates carefully with customers to achieve a successful and optimal decommissioning outcome.
