Tyne Engineering has uniquely positioned itself as specialists in the development of instruments specifically suited for measuring tritium inside process lines.

 

Tyne’s surface activity monitor quickly, conveniently and directly measures fixed and removable tritium activity on flat surfaces and can measure removable tritium on all surfaces. This carefully designed instrument is portable, easily calibrated, produces no waste, and is more efficient than scintillation.

In most laboratories where tritium is handled, much of the soft waste may be clean and could be discarded appropriately if the activity level could be measured. Tyne’s tritium in soft waste monitoring equipment provides that opportunity.

Tritium In Process Tubing Monitoring

Tyne has successfully designed, fabricated and tested in-line tritium monitoring systems for process and experimental applications across multiple  industries with a wide scope of clients in the nuclear power sector.  Our monitors are uniquely simple and compact in design, ultrahigh vacuum compatible, and bakeable to 350°C.

Tyne Engineering has developed instruments specifically for measuring tritium inside process lines.

The tritium detector can be either a 1000cc or 10cc in-line ionization chamber. The 1000cc detector gives the maximum sensitivity and the 10cc detector gives the maximum detection limit. The signal from the detector can be connected to our low cost, single range tritium signal processor, or the touch screen, auto zeroing, multi-ranged tritium monitor.

Tyne’s multi range tritium monitor is used to measure, alarm and control the amount of tritium directly in-line of a process loop in real time. The unique small footprint detector head has the ability to handle up to 150 psig, is leak tight and can operate at elevated temperatures. The touch panel controller which can be remotely installed up to 100m away handles all multi ranging, alarming with relay output, auto-zeroing and gamma compensation functions.

Tritium On Surfaces and In Soft Waste

In addition to design custom tritium air and process measurement instruments, Tyne has developed technology to monitor tritium on flat and uneven surfaces and soft waste such as paper towels, clothing and gloves.
